Rick & Drew Ahmann remember it as if it were yesterday. When they were young brothers growing up, they were constantly building forts. The two of them always found a source of wood, whether it was leftover shingles from their neighbor’s new roof or a parcel of the endless supply of lumber and plywood their grandfather always seemed to have. Together with their friends and the encouragement of their grandfather, they’d secure a location—a vacant lot, a tree, or once even under a house—and enthusiastically build some of the most elaborate marvels of timber engineering. Some things never change, and for Rick & Drew these early days were only the beginning of something much more powerful.

Constructing the First Dream

During their summer off from middle school, Rick & Drew helped their father build his dream house. Working from sunup to sundown, they toiled side by side with their dad, assisting him with everything from the electrical and cedar shake roofing to hanging drywall. Over those amazing months, they transformed a 1200 square foot home into a 2700 square foot retreat where their close-knit family spent some memorable times during winters playing hockey on the frozen pond and fishing for hours during the warmer months.

The Beginning of a Great Partnership

Three years later, when their father—the owner of the family’s real estate brokerage and a well-respected community leader—partnered with a construction company, Rick & Drew were hired as laborers for their first real, full-time jobs. They learned every aspect of construction from the foundation up, framing to finish carpentry. Getting paid for what was once a labor of love made this the time of their lives. For Rick & Drew, there was nothing better. And from that day on, it seemed these brothers would always be a team who worked well together.

An Important Philosophy

It’s been years since their days building forts in the backyard, but the more things change, the more they stay the same for Rick & Drew. These 6th generation Montanans purchased their dad’s real estate company in 1996 and have continued the vision their father brought to the community—a vision of family values and a genuine desire to make the area a great place to raise children and grow old with loved ones.
